2025 13U AA/AAA and 15U AA/AAA Tryout Information

We are excited to announce the upcoming tryouts for the 2025 VCB Travel Teams in the 13U AA/AAA and 15U AA/AAA divisions.

The 18U AAA and College Prep tryout schedules are available here.

13U A,15U A,18U AA Assessment dates are to follow.

Tryouts will be conducted by a team of eight experienced coaches to ensure a comprehensive and fair evaluation process.

The facility is equipped with the latest technology to provide accurate and unbiased assessments of all participants.

What to Bring

  • Baseball bat
  • Batting helmet
  • Glove
  • Water bottle (labeled with your name)
  • Proper athletic attire and runners for indoor turf

Important Notes

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in.
  • Players must pre-register online before the tryout date (walk-ins will not be accepted).
  • Evaluation criteria will include skills in hitting, fielding, pitching, catching, base running, and overall game awareness.
  • Dates and times may slightly change due to capacity

Physical Testing

Speed and Agility: Timed sprints, shuttle runs, and agility drills to assess athleticism.

Strength and Conditioning

Tests for upper and lower body strength, explosiveness, and endurance.

Skill Assessments

Hitting: Evaluation of mechanics, power, and consistency through live batting practice and drills.

Fielding: Ground balls, fly balls, reaction drills, and situational play to assess fielding techniques and range.

OPTIONAL Pitching: Assessment of velocity, accuracy, mechanics, and pitch control for pitchers.

Catching: Blocking, receiving, throw-downs, and situational awareness for catchers – Please bring your own Catchers Gear.

Game Situations [WEATHER AND TIME PERMITTING ONLY]

Live Game Scenarios: Scrimmages or simulated games to evaluate situational understanding, game awareness, and competitive mindset.

Positional Play: Specific skills related to the player's primary and secondary positions to observe decision-making and execution.

Mental and Tactical Skills IQ TESTING 10 QUESTIONS

Game IQ and Decision-Making: Observation of players' ability to read plays, anticipate moves, and react quickly.

Players interested in attending the travel team tryouts, but do not live within the Vancouver Community Baseball / Vancouver Minor boundary are required to complete a tryout release and have it approved by the BC Minor Baseball eligibility director at least 5 days prior to attending tryouts. If successful and selected to play on the travel team, players must complete a player movement form and have it approved by the BC Minor eligibility director prior to joining the team.
