GENERAL INFORMATION
Geographical Boundaries: Vancouver Community Baseball is open to anyone living in the City of Vancouver. If you live outside of Vancouver, you are considered an "Out of Boundary" player and will need to obtain a release from you home association before you can play with VCB. Refer to "Out of Boundary" section below for more information.
Age Restriction: VCB runs programs at the 13U, 15U, 18U, and 26U ages (players must be the indicated age or under as of December 31, 2025) in accordance to BC Minor Baseball Association (BCMBA) rules. Players who are eligible to play Little League (meaning no older than 12 as of August 31 of the current calendar year) are encouraged to play with their local Little League instead of VCB. Links to the Vancouver Little Leagues' websites can be found below.
Travel and House Teams: VCB offers tiered baseball at all levels - House "A" teams play teams within Association and Travel teams play teams against outside Associations. Players may opt to try out for the Travel teams "AA" or "AAA" teams that offer a very competitive level of play and require more commitment. These teams will play similar level teams from other associations to qualify for the BC Minor Baseball Provincials at the end of the season. Players not selected for the Travel teams will be selected to play in the Spring "A" House division and can tryout at the end of the season to play on the Summer "A" Travel team at the end of the season.
Non-returning Players: If you were registered last year and are age-eligible to play again this year but are not planning to do so, we would appreciate if you would let us know by email. We will be contacting families of eligible unregistered players by phone around Feb 15th unless we've been informed that you are not planning to play this year. You can contact the registrar at registrar@vcbmountiesbaseball.com.
Registration by Birth Year: As we are affiliated with BCMBA which is based on registration by birth year, please select the Division your player is to register for based on this (eg. player born December 2012 would register for 15U):
Division | Born in Year | Age (as of Jan 1st, 2026) | School Grade |
13U | 2013 | 12 | Grade: 7 |
15U | 2011 - 2012 | 13 - 14 | Grades 8 & 9 |
18U | 2008 - 2010 | 15 - 17 | Grades: 10, 11 & 12 |
26U | 2000 - 2007 | 18 - 26 | Post-Secondary |

TRAVEL TEAMS
For more detailed information about each of our Travel Teams, refer to the relevant Division section (13U AA, 13U AAA, 15U AA, 15U AAA, 18U AAA) of our website.
Registration Deadline:
- If you intend to try out for a travel team (AA/AAA), we want you to register by December 31, 2025 as tryouts will start on January 3rd
- If you intend to play on a house team (A), we encourage you to register by January 31, 2026 to be guaranteed a spot
Tryout Fee: Players trying out for a travel team will be charged an additional tryout fee of $75 during registration as this covers the cost of facility rentals and hiring of assessorts to assist with the process. Tryouts will take place at the UBC Indoor Rose Facility and refer to Tryout Schedule for dates and times. This is a non-refundable fee.
Tryout Sessions: Attendance at tryout session(s) is mandatory to be considered for a travel team. During registration, indicate which sessions you are able to attend. If you are unable to attend a scheduled session, select “Not available.” We will do our best to accommodate the player subject to the availability of alternative evaluation times. Please note that we cannot guarantee this, as it will depend on our coaches’ schedules and facilities availability. If we cannot schedule your player for a tryout session, the tryout fee will be refunded.
Travel Team Fees: Players selected to a travel team (13U AA/AAA, 15U AA/AAA, or 18U AAA) will be charged an extra Travel Team fee on top of the base registration fee. These additional fees will cover additional costs required for travel team such as additional equipment for travel, additional uniform items for players, tournament fees, umpires for additional games, facility rental, coaching and training. Additional travel expenses such as transportation, hotel, food are the responsibilities of the parents or guardians.
2026 Travel Team Fees
Travel Team | Travel Fee (on top of Base Fee) |
13U AA | $840 |
13U AAA | $1,120 |
15U AA | $1,620 |
15U AAA | $2,220 |
18U AAA | $1,920 |
After Tryouts: You will be notified by either the Coach or Registrar of advancement to next round of tryouts or not. Players who try out for but are not selected to a travel team will be drafted onto a "A" House team, unless you indicate an intention to withdraw. If you plan to withdraw, notify the Registrar, before the house team drafts take place in order to receive a full refund or your base registration fee.
Summer Travel Teams: For players who play Spring "A" House (or 18U AA) level baseball, there will be another opportunity to play competitive travel baseball through the Summer "A" Travel team from end of June until early/mid August. These teams are very similar to the "All Stars" format of Little League and are formed for each division (13U-18U) through tryouts that are announced near the end of the season (end of May-early June). These teams are more competitive and require more commitment (usually 4-6 days per week) and require travel as they play against teams against the Lower Mainland for a spot to play at the BC Provincials playoffs. To be eligible to try out, players must have played at least half of the games during the Spring season.
ALL GIRLS TEAM(S)
For female athletes who are 16 or under as of Dec 31, 2025, we are offering the option for girls to play on All-Girls teams at VCB if they wish. We aim to offer baseball programming specific to girls in a fun, positive and safe environment. We value a sense of belonging, acceptance, friendship, increasing self-esteem, building confidence and a fun atmosphere. Our program will leave your player a more talented and resilient athlete, baseball player, and better teammate.
During registration, female participants will be asked if they want to play on an All-Girls baseball team if the option exists for their age level (13U-15U). If we are not able to offer this option, participants will be given the option of being placed on a mixed-gender team or withdrawing and receiving a full refund of their registration fees.
BCMBA rules allow female athletes to play in a lower division for one (1) extra year (this applies to A, AA, or AAA teams). If you're a 14-year-old female, you may play 13U, if you're 16, you may play 15U, and if you're 19, you may play 18U (age is as of Dec. 31, 2025). If these situations apply to you, sign up for the older division, then let the Registrar know by email you want to play in the younger age group and you will be moved manually to the younger division.
This initiative is spearheaded by Kristy Watson who is the BCMBA Regional Coordinator for Girls Baseball. She can be reached by email at girls@vcbmountiesbaseball.com.
OUT OF BOUNDARY PLAYERS
Except for 18U AAA, BCMBA Baseball rules generally require that players play in their local association. If you live outside of Vancouver, you can find your local association boundaries on BC Minor Baseball's website. If you live outside the City of Vancouver but want to play on a VCB team (other than 18U AAA) for whatever reason, you will need to complete the BCMBA Tryout Release Form and get a release from your home association. A release may be granted or refused by your local association for any reason and the decision may change from one year to the next.
If you want to play on a VCB 18U AAA team and live outside the City of Vancouver, you are required to notify your home association and the VCB President at president@vcbmountiesbaseball.com of your intention by email only. The BCMBA Tryout Release Form is not required at the 18U AAA level. If you are not selected for a travel team, you will need to return to your home association to play 18U AA (or get a release to play 18U AA with VCB).
If you're trying out for our 15U AAA team, BCMBA rules permit 15U AAA teams to roster up to 3 players from outside their association's catchment area. If you are not selected for a Travel team, you will need to return to your home association to play.
VCB welcomes out of catchment players to try out. If you're out of catchment, please complete the following:
- If you are trying out for 13U or 15U Travel team, the BC Minor Baseball "Player Tryout Release" must be completed and approved PRIOR to registration to try out for a Travel Team. If you are trying out for the 18U AAA Travel team, you are required to notify your Home Association and the VCB President at president@vcbmountiesbaseball.com of your intention PRIOR to registration.
- In registration, select "Out of Boundary - Travel Team Tryout for 13U, 15U, 18U A/AAA" and complete registration.
- For 13U or 15U, you will be required to attach the approval notification for player tryout release that was sent to you by your home Association's President.
- If you are selected for a VCB Travel team, you will then need to complete the BC Minor "Player Movement Request" form and submit to BC Minor Baseball.
REFUND POLICY
A request for a refund will only be considered if it is delivered, in writing, to the league's Registrar. If you do not receive a response to your request to withdraw within 48 hours, re-send the email to the Registrar, registrar@vcbmountiesbaseball.com, and copy the President, president@vcbmountiesbaseball.com, and the applicable Division Coordinator. Their contact information can be found on the Contacts page of this website.
Administrative Fee: There is a $25 non-refundable fee for all withdrawals to cover the league's registration and credit card transaction costs.
Prior to Team Formation: Requests for refunds prior to the teams being formed will be processed as full refunds minus the administrative fee. It is not necessary to include a reason for the withdrawal.
After Team Formation: After the teams have been formed, requests for refunds will only be considered for medical reasons, and must be supported by a note from a physician. If accepted, refunds will be pro-rated (less the non-refundable fee) based on when the injury or illness occurred within the season.
All refunds will be provided no later than two (2) weeks after receiving the request for refund. All refunds will be directly credited to the original form of payment for registration.
