Winter Strength & Conditioning Program

As Fall Ball comes to a close, we are thrilled to announce our inaugural Strength and Conditioning Program, led by our Player Development Coordinator, Luciano Letteri.
Starting October 30th, this eight-week program will feature two sessions per week on Wednesday and Sunday evenings at the stunning False Creek gym.

The primary objective of the Strength & Conditioning (S&C) program is to elevate baseball performance by developing key physical attributes in strength, power, speed, and proper body alignment. Strength training is essential for baseball athletes as increases in force and power directly correlates to enhanced bat speed, throwing velocity, and sprint speed. The 2024-25 S&C program will also place an emphasis on power and plyometric drills which develop fast twitch muscle fibers - a key attribute in elite baseball players.
Athletes will also have the opportunity to train alongside their friends and teammates, fostering a strong work ethic together. We highly emphasize a team training environment where each individual is supported by both coaches and peers, encouraging them to push their limits and achieve personal growth collectively.

About the Coach

Luciano Letteri

My name is Luciano Letteri and I am one of the player development and performance coaches for the VCB Mounties. In my role, I serve as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the association and provide on-field performance training and consulting to teams, emphasizing on enhancing throwing velocity, bat speed, sprinting, power development, change of direction ect. As a former player of the UBC Varsity team, I am very passionate and excited to be a coach and mentor to the younger generation of baseball players.

During my time at UBC, I pursued academics in Kinesiology - specializing in Sports Performance and Strength & Conditioning. Currently, I am involved with the UBC Varsity and Junior Varsity baseball programs, where I work in a sports performance and S&C role. Throughout these years, I've had the privilege of working with numerous collegiate athletes, guiding their performance both on-field and in the weight room. Consequently, I’ve developed a well-rounded approach to training by leveraging scientific principles to enhance athletic performance in every aspect. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.
